Two Tips for Virtual Learning

Two Tips to Make Virtual Learning Less Stressful and more Engaging

Okay, so you've gotten comfortable with Google Classroom, Seesaw, Zoom, as well as other applications for Virtual Learning.  Now let's let learn just a couple of tips to streamline your days.

First of all, if you find yourself opening the same line of tabs each day to prepare for class, consider making a bookmark folder containing all your daily links and open them all at once.  Here is a quick video on how to do this.  This will save you tons of time, and allow you to close tabs and not worry about being able to open them all quickly and easily each day.

I really enjoyed this Video from Simpletivity to explain some really great tips on using Zoom effectively and in a more engaging way.  Now that you've got the basics down, perhaps it's time to use some of the more advanced tools available to you.  It's easy to follow and you will look like a Zoom Master after watching!

Google Classroom will Make Your Life Easier! Seriously!

Google Classroom - Streamline EVERYTHING!

  • How many of you are asked on a regular basis to put together Independent Study Packets for students?
  • Are you tired of writing detailed Sub Plans when you are out?
  • Want to STOP bringing home stacks of paper to grade?
  • Ever had a student claim they turned their assignment in and YOU must of lost it?
Google Classroom will seriously help you eliminate these issues.  Yes, you will need to learn the basics of the program, however, we have many resources to share with you that will walk you through each step.  Please see our Google Classroom Help Page here

Click here for a list of apps and program that have Google Classroom Integration built in.  Push out an assignment with the click of a button!

Check out Eventbrite for upcoming trainings as well.
You can find many apps and programs that integrate directly with Google Classroom here.  They are all free.

Independent Study:

If you have a Google Classroom up and running in your classroom already, students can simply complete and turn in assignments from home or anywhere.  Google Classroom and Google Drive both have apps for mobile devices.  Assignments can be individualized as well.  Perhaps your IS student needs something a little different from the other students.  Create an assignment just for that student.  This will allow you to add and personalize content each day as needed.  The majority of your Google Classroom work will remain the same for all students, causing you a minimum of extra work.

Sub Plans:

Once you have a Google Classroom up and running, you also have an automated platform for Sub Plans.  Simply post the assignments you want completed in your Google Classroom.  If you are a teacher in 5th grade and above, you can also set up your GoGuardian session ahead of time or even monitor students while out at that conference.  This will help keep students on task while using the Chromebooks with a substitute in the room.

What Papers?

Ever forgotten to bring home all those essays you wanted to grade?  Ever accidentally left them at home after grading and now cannot pass them out for review?  Ever found yourself sitting in a waiting room for an extended period of time and wish you could use the time to grade some homework?  Google Classroom is available on any device with an internet connection.  Make the most of your time and master efficiency!

Dog Proof!

Kids complaining the dog ate their homework? Ever have a pile of papers you had collected disappear on you?  Perhaps you've been accused of losing a student's work.  Google Classroom will put a stop to all of this!  Everything is online and time-stamped.  Late work is documented!  Think of the conflicts you can avoid simply by streamlining your operation with Classroom!
